Come celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Watkins Glen Summer Jam as This Old Engine, The Mountain Jam Band, and Spare Tire Band take the stage OUTDOORS at Bernie’s Hillside Inn in Chester, NJ on Saturday, July 8th (Rain Date July 9th).
The original Watkins Glen Summer Jam drew a record-breaking crowd of 600,000 attendees in the summer of 1973, making it one of the largest rock festivals in history and dwarfing the 400,000 that were said to be at Woodstock.

This Old Engine is a “band beyond description” who uniquely captures the majesty of 50 years of the Grateful Dead. This 7 piece band brings an authentic and energized concert that will truly knock your socks off! Glen Mulligan (lead vocal, guitar), Josh Kessler (vocals, guitar), Sharon Brackelmanns (vocals), Tim McDonald (bass guitar), John Soward (drums), Billy Mutchler of The Samples (drums and percussion), and Joe Biglin of Jungle Jazz Initiative (keyboards). These tri-state deadheads play to the pace of the Brent era and jam out, so bring your boogie-woogie shoes so get ready to dance in the grooves.
The Mountain Jam Band is the tri-state area’s premier Allman Brothers tribute band comprised of some of the most talented musicians in the area. Featuring Ryan Guthrie on guitar and vocals, John McCormack on guitar and vocals, Chris Pott on bass, Frank Saia on keyboards and organ, and Stu Margulis on drums, MJB has become known for recreating the live Allman Brothers experience through signature guitar licks and mixed with extended improvisational jams. With special guest John Soward of This Old Engine on double drums.
The Spare Tire Band is a six-piece jam band that plays all over New Jersey. STB plays a wide variety of music such as The Band, the Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, Phish, Talking Heads, and much more. Always willing to explore the space, the Spare Tire Band brings their musicianship, adventurous spirit, and high energy to every performance.
